Academic Disqualification Appeal

A student who has been academically disqualified may appeal if:

There are documented compelling and unforeseen reasons why academic standards were not met, and
There is a high probability the student’s cumulative GPA can be raised to 2.00 or higher in no more than one additional semester of coursework, determined by having a Quality Point Deficiency of no more than 10 points as determined by the GPA repair calculator.

Appeal by submitting an Academic Standing Appeals Package. The deadline will be in the notification letter and email sent to the student. The package includes:

Personal statement
Copy of the results of your GPA Repair Calculator analysis
Documentation supporting the personal statement in the appeal form

Incomplete appeals and appeals received after the published deadline will not be reviewed.

Transcript and GPA Information
For this section, log in to your WebOPUS account so you can review your transcript. To get to your transcript, follow the steps below.
1. WebOPUS
2. Click “Student Services”
3. Click “Student Records”
4. Click “Academic Transcript”
5. Click the “Submit” button
6. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the section that says “TRANSCRIPT TOTAL (UNDERGRADUATE)”. See example below.

GPA Repair Worksheet
Use your GPA information from the previous step to complete the section below.
1. Open the GPA Repair Calculator
2. Enter your Overall GPA Hours is first white box titled "Current cumulative GPA hours".
  - Note: Be sure to use overall GPA hours and not overall Earned hours.
3. Enter your Overall GPA in the second white box titled "Current cumulative GPA".
4. Replace Class 1, Class 2, etc. with the names of each course you plan to take.
5. Enter the number of credits each class is worth in the "Credits" column, and the grade you reasonable expect to earn in that class in the "Grade" column.
6. When finished, upload the GPA Repair worksheet in the file upload field below.

Part 3: Personal Statement
Box A (Personal Statement): Please provide an explanation for your unsatisfactory academic progress, including any compelling and/or unforeseen factors or circumstances. If you can support any of the claims made in your personal statement with documentation, you are encouraged to do so (e.g. medical documentation, expense reports, obituaries, statements from a third party).
